![]() ![]() I settled on ArcoLinux which is developed by the creator of the excellent Sardi icons. When I had to find a replacement for the installation of the Arch based Condres OS on my Acer V15 Nitro Black Edition - which I use for media consumption - because Condres OS suddenly discontinued development, I decided to find another Arch based distribution to replace Condres. This article reviews an installation from the 19.07.9 versioned ISO of the ArcoLinuxB Community Plasma Edition. They ArcoLinuxB Community Editions include several of the project's own repositories in the pacman configuration from which these customizations are distributed. These include, among others, preinstalled and configured AUR helpers and useful bash aliases to simplify administering an Arch system, as well as performing common tasks. The community editions of the ArcoLinuxB variant, and presumably the main edition of the distribution, provide many conveniences and customizations. For users that don't like the three preconfigured environments of ArcoLinux, ArcoLinuxB Community Editions are available offering completely configured community editions with a choice of desktop environment that can be installed quickly and easily through the Calamares graphical installer from a live graphical environment. The main edition, named ArcoLinux, features fully configured and automatically installed Openbox, Xfce, and i3 environments, while ArcoLinuxB allows users to configure their installation from a terminal based environment, and ArcoLinuxD allows users to install a fully configured desktop of their choice from a minimal environment. It uses its three project branches or editions in a six phase learning plan that makes heavy use of videos, as opposed to written documentation. If you want to go a step further and not use Arch but build your own edition of Arch Linux, ArcoLinux will show you how.Arco Linux is an Arch based distribution with a focus on learning Linux through the process of assembling a customized Arch system.
